Why Just Money

The banks are sitting on $1.5 trillion in excess reserves. We, the taxpayer, are paying the banks interest on these excess reserves. If this money was lent into circulation, it would add $12 trillion to the money supply. That's $1 million for each of the 12.8 million unemployed.

The cause of the current bad economy is there simply is not enough money in circulation. When the amount of money in circulation decreases, people lose their jobs, businesses struggle and many are forced to shut down. Homes are foreclosed on.

Just Money is needed to provide just enough additional money in circulation so that people can go back to work, mortgages can be paid, and business owners can enjoy prosperity rather than stressing over making payroll.

What's Just Money?

Just Money is a alternative currency. It is called Just Money because its goal is to create a currency that brings economic justice to a community.

Just Money is a food backed currency. Because Federal Reserve Notes continually loose there value over time, there is a need for a currency that will hold its value over long periods of time, in order to increase confidence in our currency.

Just Money is backed by greenhouse food production and will hold its value over time relative to the price of lettuce and other vegetables. Since vegetables are perishable, it is better said that Just Money is backed by food production capacity.

Just Money will not immediately replace the need for all the unjust Federal Reserve notes(FRNs).

It is meant to replace those FRNs that have been removed from circulation, in order to allow additional goods and services to be exchanged so that we might enjoy a full and prosperous economy.

While to many people with no prior knowledge of alternative currencies, Just Money may seem quite odd. If you are still confused or just plain skeptical, please take a look at this video which describes the Wir Bank a successful countrywide alternative currency that has been working for over 70 years.
Please also watch the video "Money as Debt II". As this does an excellent job of explaining what’s wrong with the present private money system and what might make for a better system. Just Money is an attempt at such a better Just Money system.

Another advantage of Just Money is that it is not issued or loaned at interest as are FRNs.

One advantage of local currencies is that they remain in the local community to be re-spent over and over again. They promote local businesses instead of big box stores that siphon money off and send it out of the community.

If you are having trouble understanding the need for sustainable and environmentally friendly money, farming and energy, this website does a wonderful job of explaining the crisis at our door step and why Just Money, First Fruits Farms and on-site renewable energy systems are being developed as one solution.

How is Just Money issued?

The majority of Just Money is issued as a CSA share (Community Supported Agriculture) for First Fruits Farms.

32,000 half greens are being lent into circulation with the goal of getting a large enough segment of the population to understand the need for a Just Money system by improving business for those merchants that are early adopters.

Following God's instructions on lending according to Luke 6:35-36, these initial loans are given freely with no expectation for a return.

While any one may wish to repay their loan in time, we would rather have you spend the note in exchange for something of value. So that it may facilitate many exchanges of goods and services within our community.

What's Just Money Worth?

The Just Money exchange rate is market driven. Each merchant sets what value they wish to exchange for greens. Paul Mock is accepting each half green Just Money note for half the purchase price of one of his heads of lettuce at the farmers market.

Each merchant decides what portion of a sale and which items or services they wish to except Just Money for.

Currently, Mock's greenhouse bibb lettuce sells at the farmer's market for $3.50 a head. This makes the redemption vaule of the 1/2 green worth $1.75. Many restaurants will initially redeem the 1/2 Just Money "Green" at $1 to reflect the wholesale price of bibb lettuce and for simplicity. Of course, as the price of food rises, so will the value of Just Money. Merchants holding Just Money will maintain their buying power. unlike funds held in FRNs.

How Can I Start Accepting Just Money at my Business ?

Just send us an email, describing what your offer is. ie. "Half price of entree on Tuesdays."

Include all your contact information, street address, logo, etc. and we will list you offer at this site.
We will fancy up the website as we go and continue to promote our member businesses. We will also help find suppliers for those businesses accumulating excess Just Money.

As Just Money becomes established in local businesses will will provide exchange rate calculators for each business. This is done in many US-Canadian border towns like Niagara Falls. We will be providing assistant setting up standard brand cash registers to accept Just Money purchases.

After April 3rd we will be actively signing up additional merchants.

Just start asking merchants and private parties if they will except Just Money. Just Money is designed to grow by word of mouth. The half green notes are the first mass distribution to kick start the effort.

Just Money will be redeemable at Frist Fruits Farms on Brink Road in Germantown later this summer. map

Just Money notes are primarily issued by First Fruits Farms as a CSA share to fund the world's first open source robotic, renewable energy farming system. This system will be available free of charge to anyone who will commit to provide at least 1/10 of their production to feed the poor.

The use of Just Money notes to promote a campaign is just an example of how any for profit or non profit entity can use Just Money to "brand" themselves in our community.

It is our goal to issue $500 million of food backed Just Money in our community. This roughly half the amount of additonal fruit and vegetable production per year needed to meet our community's fruit and vegetable local consumption needs. This in turn would create a booming economy as these addtional notes circulate throughout our community.
